July 24 and October 2, 2010

Join us for an exciting and fun time at our beautiful fixture on the Lemon Fair River in Shoreham, VT.

The Green Mountain Hounds regularly hunt at this fixture during the season.  This is a marvelous opportunity to see and ride this lovely property, replete with mountain views, jumps, the meandering Lemon Fair, woods, and fields. During the hunt season, the hounds pursue a drag scent, followed by the field of riders.  While the hounds seek out the line, the pace is slow and the riders watch the hounds at their work.  When the hounds find the scent they explode with a musical cry and the ride may be very fast indeed!

In the Hunter Pace, riders, typically in teams of two or three, will traverse the same territory, and attempt to mimic the pace of a typical hunt.  The trail will cover approximately eight miles, with some 20-25 optional jumps.   The route will cross fields and a bridge, and wind through wooded trails.  At the end of the ride everyone gathers together for prizes for the teams most closely mimicking the official hunter’s time for each of the divisions.  Lunch and soft drinks will be supplied.

There will be three divisions.  For those preferring a slower pace there is “The Hill-Toppers.” A faster time will be ridden by the “Second Field.”  Those preferring a rapid clip should ride the “First Field,”

Starting times between 9am and 11am

Prizes will be awarded at 1:30pm.
